The following steps were completed to setup Cache Enabler and Autoptimize during the 2018 Speed Study of Cache Enabler.

How to Setup Cache Enabler – Step by Step

Steps 1 & 2: Let’s start by jumping into our WordPress Dashboard and clicking through to Add New Plugins. In the search bar, type Cache Enabler. Then click Install Now.

Step 3: Once Cache Enabler is installed, click Activate.

Step 4: Find Cache Enabler in your list of plugins. Then click Settings.

Cache Enabler Settings: No changes are needed to the default choices already setup.

Note: As we are going to also install Autoptimize, which specializes in minification, we don’t need to select it here within Cache Enabler. If we were to select, the following error message would be shown: “The Autoptimize plugin is already active. Please disable minification in the Cache Enabler settings.”

How to Setup Autoptimize – Step by Step

Steps 5 & 6: Now we’re going to install Autoptimize as a perfect pairing with Cache Enabler. In the search bar, type Autoptimize. Then click Install Now.

Step 7: Once Autoptimize is installed, click Activate.

Step 8: Find Cache Enabler in your list of plugins. Then click Settings.

Step 9: To see all the options available, click the Show Advanced Settings button.

Steps 10 to 12: Place ticks against Optimize HTML Code, Keep HTML comments and Optimize Javascript Code.

Steps 13 & 14: Scroll further down the page and check Optimize CSS Code & Aggregate Inline CSS.

Step 15: After all the above checks have been completed, the final step is to scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Save Changes and Empty Cache button.
