Setting up a WordPress site can be a little tricky.

To help guide you through the process, we have created a step by step tutorial that shows how we setup one of our Live Test Sites (wpdingo.org) in March 2016. We hope you find it beneficial!

How to Install WordPress for A2 Hosting

Step 1: Choose your hosting plan with A2 Hosting and complete the order process.

Step 2: Straight after the order has completed, the first screen that pops up is shown below. After navigating around the Client Area for a little while, it soon became obvious that WordPress had been automatically installed – Yay!! 🙂

Step 3: With WordPress already installed, we simply head over to our emails and try to locate the A2 email with a subject of “Your WordPress – A2 Optimized installation details”

Step 4: In the email, find the Control Panel URL and click this link to go to your WordPress Login screen.

Step 5: When you visit the Control Panel URL, you should see a login page like the screenshot below. A fairly unique feature that you will notice is the inclusion of a Captcha form for additional security.

If your Control Panel URL shows a Coming Soon generic page from your Domain Provider, there’s an extra step below.

Step 6: (Optional) For those with Coming Soon pages, go to your emails and find the A2 Hosting Welcome email.

Half way down this email you will find 2 DNS records (as shown in the screenshot below) that need to be added to your Domain Providers Admin Portal.

Look for Nameservers, and replace the existing records (which are usually ns1.yourdomainprovider.com & ns2.yourdomainprovider.com) with the 2 records A2 Hosting has provided in the email.

Please be aware that changes to DNS records can take up to 24-48 hours, so unfortunately, you might see the coming soon page for a little while.

Step 7: Once you can see the WordPress Login screen (from Step 5), type in your username and password, as well as complete the Captcha form.

You should then be greeted with the WordPress Dashboard below.

And guess what, WordPress is now installed and ready to go!!
